Initiatives

The BC-CfE has numerous key initiatives. Research studies relating to antiretroviral drug adherence, injection drug use, and barriers to accessing HIV treatment are among these initiatives. The BC-CfE monitors the impact of HIV/AIDS in British Columbia and conducts analyses of the effectiveness of programs for investigating and treating HIV and AIDS.

	AESHA A longitudinal study of female sex workers’ health and safety both on and off the street.
	ARYS The At-Risk Youth Study (pronounced 'arise') is made up of youth aged 14 to 26.
	CANOC An integrated network of treatment information from eight cohort databases across Canada.
	Clinical Consultations The clinical program works with PHC staff to enhance clinical knowledge related to BC-CfE programs.
	Clinical Research A variety of research on HIV clinical care.
	Gender and Sexual Health Initiative GSHI highlights the need to address issues of gender and sexual health in the response to HIV.
	HOMER A retrospective cohort of HIV-positive individuals initiating HAART in British Columbia.
	ICSDP An international network committed to improving the health and safety of communities and individuals affected by illicit drugs.
	IMPACT-HIV A collaboration between the BC-CfE and the Complex Systems Modeling Group (CSMG) at the IRMACS Centre of SFU.
	LISA An initiative studying supportive services and socio-demographic factors for people living with HIV.
	ManCount ManCount is the Vancouver site of the M-Track national survey - designed to to measure rates of HIV & STIs affecting gay men.
	Mitsampan Community Research Project A community-based research project in Thailand involving BC-CfE investigators.
	Momentum The Momentum Health Study is a sexual health study of gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men in Greater Vancouver.
	Quality and Safety The BC-CfE Pharmacovigilance Program collects, evaluates, and analyzes reports of drug toxicity.
