RCMP begin review over Insite research allegations

The RCMP has launched an internal review into allegations that members engaged in politically motivated research to damage Vancouver’s supervised injection site.

Last week, Pivot Legal Society asked Canada’s auditor general to examine if the RCMP went beyond their mandate by funding “academic critiques” to undermine Insite.

In a letter yesterday to Dr. Julio Montaner, clinical director of the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, RCMP Deputy Comm. Gary Bass said the “allegations are directly linked to the relationship of trust between the public and the RCMP.” More >>
