Dr. Richard Liang

Associate Research Scientist (Bioinformatics)

Dr. Richard Liang is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the bioinformatics group of the BC-CfE's Laboratory Program. His primary role is in the creation, development, and maintenance of software for clinical genetic sequence analysis of HIV. He is also involved in the research activities of the bioinformatics group; his main research interests lie in phylogenetics and population genetics.

Dr. Liang's background is primarily in mathematics and probability theory, with an emphasis in population genetics. Prior to his appointment at the CfE, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the UBC Department of Mathematics for two years. He received his PhD in statistics from the University of California, Berkeley.
